It won't connect
- Make sure Bluetooth is on on both phones — Whispr uses it to find the other phone.
- On Android, allow Whispr the Nearby devices (or Location) permission when it asks. Android needs it to let phones find each other offline.
- Bring the phones within a few metres for the first connection, then you can move apart.
- Close and reopen the Whispr app on both phones, then try again.
The voice cuts out or sounds choppy
- You may be too far apart — move a little closer.
- Thick walls, crowds, or lots of nearby Wi-Fi can shorten the range. Try changing position.
- Check that your earbuds are connected and have battery.
An iPhone and an Android together
iPhone-to-Android works in Off-the-Grid Mode, but the range is usually a bit shorter than two of the same kind. For the smoothest experience:
- Make sure both phones are on the latest version of Whispr.
- If possible, let the Android phone start the session.
If Off-the-Grid Mode is giving you trouble across an iPhone and an Android, switching to Anywhere Mode (Whispr+) usually solves it — it works smoothly between the two over any internet connection.
